Managing a project

The Total row

Show the sum of numeric columns and overall progress at the bottom of your lists.

1 min read updated October 2026

At the bottom of project and task lists, the Total row summarises your columns: the sum of numeric columns (number, workload, budget) and overall progress. It is available depending on your organisation's options.

Where to find it

  • in a project's list (tasks and subtasks);
  • in organisation lists: projects, tasks and subtasks across all your projects.

The total takes active filters into account: filter by portfolio, team or status, and the Total row is recalculated on the rows displayed.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't a column have a total?

Only columns that add up (numbers, workload, budget, progress) have a total. A text or date column does not.

Is the subtask total added to the task total?

No, to avoid counting the same thing twice: each level has its own total.
