Adding custom columns

Text, number, date, choice list, progress, workload, budget: add your own information to tasks and projects.

1 min read updated October 2026

Each organisation follows information of its own: an order number, a risk level, a client, a delivery date… Custom columns let you add it to tasks as well as to projects.

Adding a column

  1. 1
In the List view (of a project, or of the project list), open the columns menu.
  2. 2
Choose Add a column and its type.
  3. 3
Name it and set its options, then confirm.

Column types

Text

Free text. History option: each new entry is added to the previous ones, dated, instead of replacing them.

Number

A numeric value, added up in the Total row.

Date

A single date, or a date range (start and end).

Choice list

Options to select, shown as text, as an icon or both.

Progress

A progress bar calculated from tasks or milestones, or entered manually.

Workload and 💶 Budget

Planned and actual days, or planned and spent amounts, depending on your organisation's options.

System columns

The basic columns (title, description, creation date, owner…) can be renamed or hidden, and are used for sorting and filtering like the others.

Good to know: a history column keeps track of how a piece of information changes over time (for example a weekly status update), without erasing anything.
