Microsoft shut down Project Online on 30 September 2026. Here is how to move your schedules, resources and portfolios to a French solution, without starting from scratch.

On 30 September 2026, Microsoft shut down Project Online. Announced in September 2025, the end of the service was planned well in advance: end of sale in October 2025, no new environments from April 2026, then final retirement. Projects and data that had not been exported are no longer accessible.
If your organisation is affected, or if you are simply looking for a simpler tool to steer your projects, this article helps you choose what comes next.
What is affected: only the Project Online cloud service. Project desktop, Project Server and Microsoft Planner are not part of this retirement.
What Project Online brought
PMOs valued Project Online for three reasons: detailed schedules with dependencies, a portfolio view, and resource management. Any serious alternative must cover these three needs, without reproducing the complexity.
What you get in Gladys
| Need | In Gladys |
|---|---|
| Detailed planning | Gantt with dependencies, milestones and reference milestones shared by all your projects |
| Portfolio steering | Portfolios, widget dashboards, multi-project Gantt |
| Resource management | Planned workload per task and per person, Resources view, timesheet |
| Cost tracking | Budget view: envelope, expenses, revenue, cost of time spent (daily rates) |
| Reporting | Excel and PDF exports, PowerPoint reports generated from your own templates |
On top of that, everything teams ask for day to day: Kanban, list, calendar, per-project discussion and document management with co-editing.
Bring your projects over without retyping them
- 1Export your projects and tasks from your previous tool (or from your backups) to Excel.
- 2Fill in the Gladys import template: one sheet for projects, one sheet for tasks and subtasks.
- 3Import the file from the projects page: projects, tasks, owners and dates are created in one go.
- 4Group your projects into portfolios and add your reference milestones.
Good to know: start with a pilot portfolio of a few projects. You validate your setup (statuses, columns, milestones) before importing the rest.
A sovereign choice
Gladys is built and hosted in France, with an interface and support available in French and English. Your schedules and steering data stay in France, and your AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Le Chat or Gemini) can connect to them through the MCP connector, with your permissions and nothing more.
Frequently asked questions
Can Gladys replace Project for very detailed schedules?
For the vast majority of projects, yes: the Gantt handles dependencies, milestones, subtasks and recalculated dates. For very specific industrial scheduling, run a trial on a typical project.
Can we keep the history of our past projects?
Anything you exported can be imported from an Excel file. Import completed projects too if you want to see them in your portfolios.
How long does a migration take?
For a few dozen projects, the import itself takes minutes. The longest part is deciding on your target setup: portfolios, statuses and milestones.
